VPAT vs ACR — what government buyers require
A VPAT (Voluntary Product Accessibility Template) is the blank standardized form; an ACR (Accessibility Conformance Report) is that form filled out with your product’s actual conformance results. Government buyers require the completed ACR — vendors often say “VPAT” when they mean the finished ACR document.
Federal buyers evaluating Section 508 compliance expect an ACR based on the current VPAT edition (WCAG, Section 508, or EN 301 549), with honest per-criterion conformance levels — “Supports,” “Partially Supports,” or “Does Not Support” — backed by evidence. An ACR full of unsupported “Supports” claims is a procurement and legal liability, not an asset.
